About Kaambag Clinic

About Kaambag Clinic

The Kaambag Clinic is the treatment Hub of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC). It started in 2009 when VSMMC employees trained in the Department of Health (DOH) Central Office on HIV treatment, care, and support. It is the oldest HIV treatment hub outside of Metro Manila.
Kaambag in Cebuano means “partner” or “stakeholder”. In Kaambag, we want our patients to be considered as partners in ensuring their optimal health. We are partners and we have to give our own contribution.
Our Aspirations

Most of our efforts are geared towards patient empowerment because as we said kaambag means partner or stakeholder. We conduct HIV awareness campaigns and stigma reduction activities so that we can reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV. But at the top, we promise to take care of our patients and make sure that they are not lost to follow up. Because after all, our PLHIVs deserve love, care and respect.

TEACH Cebu is the social media advocacy arm of the Kaambag Clinic. TEACH Cebu means “Targeting Enhanced Awareness and Control of HIV/AIDS in Cebu” and we hope to have a streamlined and unified effort to reduce HIV in Cebu. The Kaambag Clinic cannot do it alone. We have to collaborate, we have to create linkages and networks with all of the people dealing with HIV so that we can have an HIV-free Cebu.
